The Appalachian Studies Page in the ACA Virtual Center desires to provide professional teaching and learning experiences for all disciplines in Appalachian Studies. ACA faculty in many disciplines have come together to provide information helpful to those engaged in teaching at any level.
 

Appalchian Field Trips Complied by Dr. Susan Ambler at Maryville College, this page contains descriptions of and links to possible field trip sites in the general Appalachian area.

Publishers' Page Contains mailing addresses, phone numbers, websites, and email addresses of presses that specialize in books by Appalachian authors and about Appalachia. Links include publishers' catalogs, ordering information, and publishing guideline. This information was compiled for the Virtual Center by Terrie K. Sypolt from King College

Writing Nature in Appalachia Rob Merritt, Associate Professor of English at Bluefield College, designed theseVirtual Center pages for writers and teachers of writing. Topics include" What is Nature Writing?" and "Southern Appalachian Nature Writing, Past and Present". Other links include organazitaions that focus on Nature Writing and syllabi for courses about wilderness and culture.

Women's Studies for Appalachia These resources were compiled for the Virtual Center by Nedra Wheeler of Virginia Intermont College

.Appalachian Entrepreneurship Studies The Introduction to this site gives its purpose as: "...to be a resource to college business faculty and business students in Appalachia who are interested in entrepreneurship. The site approaches entrepreneurship from the point of view of doing business in Appalachia, with an awaeness ot cultural forces at work within the area." This site is hosted by Wheeling Jesuit and maintained by Paul Ostasiewski.

AppLit: Resources for Readers and Teachers of Appalachian Literature This site, developed by Tina L. Hanlon of Ferrum College and Judy A. Teaford of Mountain State University, offers an exhaustive collection of information and links about many types of Appalachian literature. Reads the information page: "AppLit [contains] bibliographies, study guides, lesson plans, author pages, previously unpublished folktale texts, original stories and poems, articles on Appalachian literature and related topics, and links to other internet resources, as well as regional photos; background on illustrators, dramatists, and filmmakers; and illustrations, including drawings by school children based on their experiences withAppalachian literature and drama." This site is hosted by Ferrum College and maintained by Tina Hanlon.
