ISP: International Studies Program in Europe http://www.ovc.edu/sispinfo.htm
Students enrolling in the program meet a few Wednesday nights during
the
spring semester, from 8:30 to 10:00 p.m., for orientation to traveling
in Europe and starting classwork on four different courses. At the end
of the term there are two weeks of concentration on the courses on
campus, followed by two weeks in England (studying Literature and
History) and two weeks in Italy (studying Art and Church History). All
on-site observations and visits will be coordinated with the reading
material and classroom instruction. Course material and anticipated
on-site visits to specific museums, historical sites, monuments,
buildings, etc. are mapped out during the on-campus preparation time;
that is, students will not only study the subject matter but will have
a
good idea of the specifics of where they will be going, what to look for
in each place, and how to get there from their hotel. Group discussions
dealing with the corollation of reading material and onsite obervations
will be held throughout the travel.
The International Studies Program is available to any student fully
enrolled at Ohio Valley College. Since the program actually begins
during the preceding spring semester, it is necessary that a student be
enrolled at OVC during that semester, at least part-time. If the student
is in need of financial aid, it would probably be necessary for him/her
to be enrolled as a full-time student during that spring semester.
Teachers and chaperones for the ISP are Ohio Valley College teaching
and
staff personnel.
