About the Artist:Andrea Dismukes has made numerous appearances in opera,
oratorio, chamber music and traditional solo recital venues. A few highlights
include performances at the University of Alabama in the operatic role
of Madame Flora in Menotti’s The Medium, as Carmen in scenes from
Bizet’s Carmen and Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther, performing
as winner of the Concerto/Aria 2000 with the Johnson Symphony Orchestra
of the University of Alabama, solo performances in Durufle’s Requiem
and Handel’s Messiah with the Lee University Choral Union and Chamber
Orchestra, Vivaldi's Gloria with the Lee University Campus Choir and the
Bulgarian Radio Symphony in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is equally comfortable performing repertoire from the musical theater, jazz, gospel and rhythm & blues traditions. She has made solo appearances with Ron Kenoly, internationally recognized worship leader and recording artist for Integrity’s Hosanna. In 1996, Dismukes was featured in a televised concert for Georgia Public Television as one of six finalists in the American Traditions Competition for Singers at the Savannah Onstage International Arts Festival, an annual competition celebrating the repertoire and styles which have been significant in the culture of the United States. |
