Music and the Holocaust
This lecture focuses on the many aspects and impacts of
music during the Holocaust. Some of the topics covered include: censorship
of "degenerate" music, music as propaganda, concentration camp
orchestras, and memorial works.

Profile:
Dr. Kellie Dubel Brown has been a member of the Milligan College music
faculty since 1998 where she serves as the director of the strings program
and of the Milligan College Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she is a
frequent performer throughout East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia
and is the founder and principal violinist of the Appalachian String
Quartet. She also serves as the assistant concertmaster for the Kingsport
Symphony Orchestra. Her other musical interests include composing and
arranging. Dr. Brown has studied at Furman University, East Tennessee
State University, and Appalachian State University and holds a Bachelor's
degree in music education, a Master's degree in violin performance,
and a Doctoral Degree in higher education administration, with an emphasis
in music administration.
