Introduction

The following materials are used at The University of Charleston to assess student progress in applied lessons. The Applied Lesson Levels document attempts to equalize the amount of work required by students who study privately regardless of instrument. The Music Performance rubric is a holistic scoring tool used to assess music performances. It is designed to work equally well with solo, small ensembles, and large ensembles. As with all assessment instruments we are constantly tweaking and refining. Please let us know if you have any comments or suggestions.
